cs30 / 31 assessment

hello

just started my cs 30 and 31 training today, the trainer says that by law we don't actually have to do the assessment to fell trees for our business, (in customers gardens etc)

so we don't actually need the assessment ticket just the certificate to say you completed the training.

I did not know this is the case, anyone have any input on this matter regarding felling trees in customers gardens etc?

  • Insurance companies will usually want to see your tickets.

  • they want to see certificate for doing the course or passing the assessment though as the assessment is not required by law when doing work commercially?

As Mr Bumble said "the law is an ass".

What is the point of doing the training and not testing yourself against what you have been trained, bonkers !!!!!!

  • because..

i don't have money to throw at assessors for bits of paper if they are actually not required, and the fact of where i live i would have to travel a fair bit to get to an assessor..

all i'm asking is are they actually required, not if you think i'm bonkers or not lol

Yes, I would say that an assessor is required to see if you are at the correct standard.

If you think just going on a course is enough these days then you are mistaken in my opinion.

James, did I say YOU were bonkers ??? NO I didnt...... I was generalising the subject, re-read my post and wind your neck in lol

  • hi nick

it's not whether i think just going on a course is enough, what i'm trying (and failing) to ask is, is an assessment actually necessary by law, or is it just the training part that's actually required.
