Looks like Scalpings/hardcore/type 1. The stuff that's used as a sub-base under roads, drive way's and patios.
MOT Type 1, a granular sub-base material, is a crushed aggregate, typically limestone or granite, graded to 40mm down to dust.
I was in a car park laid with stone like this today, it's completely unsuitable for areas where there's vehicles, as it is so dry because there has not rain recently, it just a dust bowl and every vehicle driving across it threw up a thick cloud of dust.
I would not use it as a topping, it's intended to be used as a sub base.
I also had to clean my shoes to get the dust off them as well, it's filthy stuff to walk on both wet and dry, because of the dust it contains.
It is all over my car as well, if you used around a house or other building it would be difficult to keep the dust out of the building.
The other issue is, the Type 1 is not free draining, it packs down into a hard pan, unlike chippings and gravel.
Round river gravel rolls around when driven on, chippings, crushed rock has angular edges and doesn't roll around but are free draining.
