cordless power level indicator

I recently purchased a stihl HSA 26 Shrub Shear and put it on charge before first use .but it appeared to be fully charged so it switched itself off .

I have used it twice for approx 30 minutes in total . it will run for 120 minutes before it needs re charging according to the instructions .

However the battery level indicator is still on 4 bars showing it must still be fully charged even after 30 minutes use

by my calculation after 30 minutes use it should be on two bars indicating it has only 30 minutes use left

I need the shrub shear to complete a job this week which will take over an hour so whats the best thing to do

1 . trust that it still has enough power to run for over an hour ?

2. put it back on charge even though indicator is reading full ?

Does it affect the battery life by recharging them before they become depleted .?

Thanks

Apologies i have used it for 30 minutes twice = 60 minutes

  • I'd just buy another "spare" battery...... they're under £30 and then you never need to worry.  Most people with cordless gear have a spare battery so they run the charge down to empty and then swap over.

Thanks Graham This was my thinking but the spare battery was out of stock , they had the HSA25 but it doesn't fit the HSA26 .

I had a long wait for the machine but its to be expected in these times .

  • i would charge it up fully, doesnt hurt the batteries to be topped up. i know someone who has one of these and he said it was hard to get hold of a spare battery due to the lock down. i find with the lithium packs in general, the first 50 to 70 percent of the charge is the best bit, after that the voltage is fading, although the electronics compensate for this, very rarely do i run down a pack to ''empty'' ie. cut off voltage

Thanks yes the spares are a bit hard to get hold of at the moment ,

I will give the battery a boost , I get the feeling the charge will rapidly drop to two bars at this stage and leave me short .
