Cooperative energy

This is not strictly landscape based but will be relevant. I am going to be switching energy supplier and came across the cooperative - did'nt know they supplied energy!

I found their website refreshingly straightforward compared to other suppliers. Prices are there for all to see in an easy to understand format. There is only one tariff compared to dozens from other suppliers so it wont make your head hurt.

They are not the cheapest nor the most expensive but they don't lure you in with cheap initial deals and then ramp the price up later. Existing customers are treated the same way as new customers and their green energy proportion is up with the highest in the industry.

As i am already a coop member i will get money back through dividends. As it is owned by the members there are no greedy shareholders to pay and the whole thing seems much more ethical to me.

Has anybody used them as a supplier and if so what do you think?

  • Currently contemplating moving to the cooperative from eon and british gas. I have been with British gas and eon for a long time and have economy 7 but on using last bills details I did a comparison. I found it would be cheaper to combine and move to cooperative. Not got round to it yet though

Dealing with utility companies is such a nightmare and yes Phil, they do treat us like fools. I think i have made my mind up about switching to them but i rarely rush into anything.

And after that i will be looking into switching telephone and broadband providers. Why do they have to make things so confusing and be such money grabbing a**eholes.
