Contact Weedkiller

At present we are using relay turf and gallup for weed control but what i am after is a contact weedkiller that burns the weed pretty much from application. Many years ago we used PDQ but it is not available now. someone told me the replacement is called 'RETRO' but nobody has heard of it. just intrested to know what other members use as a contact weedkiller?

Check out it's glypho content - its not as strong (ie it's a compromise ;-)

  • Thanks Gary, but still a bit puzzled,Hammer gives results next day, roundup up to 2 weeks?

Hammer has an extra ingredient that distructs the green cells (from what I remember) which causes the 'instant' dieback effect, while gylpho is translocated down to roots for the total kill effect.

In essence, it's a hybrid product

Hopefully one of the suppliers will add further or correct my memory...
  • is it residual? can you use it before planting on vegetable patch?

  • Hi Mark, we have a few products which are purely a contact total herbicide. Probably the most widely used in amenity would be Finale. This is due to be withdrawn so we only have 5 more days to sell out by, but it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are trying to control marestail. http://www.agrigem.co.uk/finalie-5l.html

We do also have products such as Retro & Reglone which are available in a 10L pack.

If you want any more info or require some prices then please get in touch.

    Cheers, Ollie
