  • Hi Brian,

There was a thread I contributed to on this forum a few months back regarding Constructionline.

    http://www.landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/construction-line...

As i said last time, i am not here to 'sell' anything, merely answer your questions, but you should realise i work for Constructionline.

We are not a scheme that will generate tender opportunities without some work on your part I am afraid. The greatest misconception of the scheme, is that by joining, work offers will just start to come in.

    I would recommend the following.

Make sure your profile is as up-to-date as it can be - treat this as your 'shop window'

Log in to your profile at least once a week to see if there has been any 'buyer activity' on your profile.

This will be either an enquiry to your profile, or a hit - they are subtly different, but you can safely assume this will be as a result of buyer needing 'your kind of company'

It would be then down to you to chase up leads as and when they come in.

Constructionline is here to avoid you having to repeatedly complete PQQ's. It is still down to the registered supplier to compete for that work in the normal way.

How the buyer procures, once they have searched for suppliers unfortunately, will always be the choice of that specific buyer, and it will be key for you to understand that for each buyer you hope to engage with.

(We are working on a database of this information, but it is a very long process)

Finally, i would also get yourself registered (for free) if you aren't already, on any regional or national opportunity notice board which will send you notifications of opportunities in the public sector.

feel free to ask any questions on this topic, i will endeavor to help as best I can.

    Many thanks

    Matt

Hi Steve, how you doing ?? thanks.  I have just won a big contract for Sedum roof maintenance with SKANSKA. They have built about 10 new primary schools around my area and have also got a 30 year facilities management contract for them, gave them my SAFEcontractor stuff and constructionline certs, but I am also having to go through "Human Focus", hadn't heard of them before, but SKANSKA insist you get accredited to there systems and policies, not a problem and happy to get the accreditation, but I am starting to feel over accredited....... lol.

Hows work going with you ??

  • That's great  Brian - if you ever travel into England, the North West has a portal called 'The Chest' and the North East has a portal called NEPO.

There is also a newly launched national portal like PCS, called Contract Finder.

  • Brian,

I wonder if you would be willing to let me know how much this extra accreditation sets you back and how long it takes to complete.

I have had a dig around their website, as the burden of over the top accreditations are on my agenda currently. I have noted the following:

At Stage 1 there are many recognised Pre-qualification schemes such as CHAS, Safe Contractor, Achilles etc. If a contractor has already achieved Stage 1 Prequalification via one of these recognised schemes Competent Contractor accepts this certification and moves on to Stage 2.

I would therefore hope your assessment would be easier as a result of previously achieved accreditations.

    also the following:

The provision of RoSPA accreditation via Human Focus services does not imply that individuals, or organisations, have all the necessary training and other arrangements required to work safely.

Which would beg the question why are you expected to become assessed?!

I am not suggesting you kick up a fuss, as you have already stated you are happy to go through the process. I am merely on an 'intelligence gathering' crusade.
