Hi Sue
It's not complicated at all:)
You do not need to be a friend of anyone to leave a reply on a thread. It's only private messaging that requires two people to be friends.
Feel free to email me phil@landscapejuice.com at any time (I'm usually around) if you require help with anything.
You are not alone Sue! There was a discussion recently re the pros and cons of the two tiered system which you can find down there somewhere. Cant say I learnt a lot from it, got a bit political and I lost the will to live! Apparently the 'other side' is also quiet.
I am convinced this was a bad move and the site will wither and die very quickly unless something isnt done pretty sharpish! I think most want to log on, read the days topics, ask/answer the odd question and generally feel you 'are not alone' - especially during inclement weather!
Hi Colin
"I think most want to log on, read the days topics, ask/answer the odd question and generally feel you 'are not alone' - especially during inclement weather!"
I cannot see how anything has change from what you enjoyed previously? You have completely un-restricted access to the same forums as you did before Premium access was added.
Yes, I just looked the discussion forum up every so often, added a reply if I felt I had any useful info to add or ideas. Asked the odd question, but now it's just too much hard work just to interact.
Sad really 'cos I quite liked some of the Guys on the forum, Gary especially but as you say times have changed!
As I say guys.
If anyone has a problem with log-in or with using any specific feature on LJN, please do not hesitate to contact me direct. Most things are dead easy to fix;-0)
Email phil@landscapejuice.com or phone direct 0844 2324221...always happy to help:)
As far as Im concerned the premium is not much different the old KBO Group part of the forum. It was never that busy either. PRO member or not most if not all members still post on the general forum mostly. I dont see a flood of posts in premium that I think that should be in the open forum. To much is being made of the pro membership. Forums will naturally ebb and flow with posts, they are not being "hidden behind the iron curtain". From what I reading its only the freemium mmebers that seem to think about LJN being two tiered.

Hi Phil, Just call me an old woman!!!
It must of been too much hedge cutting yesterday, I have just found that the fault has corrected it's self.
I do feel(and I'm not the only one)left behind with this two tear membership, we don't get the descussions we used to get on the old forum, I miss the others they were quite entertaining and informative.
I have no web site therefore no reason to join the premium level, please accept my apologys for getting confused.com lol.
Please feel free to delete this thread.
Sue
Sue, we're all still here discussing the meaning of life on the main forum and on chat...;-)
The main forum is still here for us all to post new threads and respond to others.
I think the level and quality of discussion is down to the members.
Quantity is always higher during Winter months (have more time, hence more worries ;-)
Quality is dependant on members starting relevant threads and us all responding accordingly.
I've seen comments from people saying they have nothing to comment on or threads are not always relevant.
My response ? Start up a thread, ask a question relevant to your area, or ask for help or express an opinion...or, dare I say it, be controversial...we are allowed to be that on here ;-)
That's good..it's often something simple:)
As far as the forum is concerned...nothing has changed and everyone can start and participate in discussion just like they did. I can also tell from the back-end of LJN that there has been no tail-off of members signing in or opening the weekly newsletter.
For any forum to be successful, as LJN has consistently been for six years, it needs creators. It's a natural phenomenon that only 1% of any social group is a creator, a further 9% are responders and the rest are readers.
LJN has consistently bucked those numbers since its inception.
If members feel there is something missing from discussions then they have to become creators and start off a thread; others will quickly join in if it appeals to them.
...and from the feedback I've received from LJN members who've upgraded, a lot have done so because they've received benefit from the discussion, help and advice and/or making connections with others...some who've gone on to form small groups themselves after meeting on LJN.
