Choisya ternata

I have a client who has well established Choisyas. This year I noticed that one section had started to die back and put it down to the cod snap we had, I cut out the damaged parts and removed the waste, mow I have noticed that it has started to spread, I have also noticed scale insects. Any ideas.

  • Lol, thought there was something fishy going on. I had a feeling it might be due to the cold snap and stress, just wanted another opinions. Thanks

Almost certainly down to the cod attack Jason :))
  • I agree, Cod are in short supply, and as a result have taken to land and are collectively attacking Choisya as a food source.

    Two options,

    a. move away from the coast
    b. buy a trawler

    : )
  • I agree, almost certainly the cold, i've never known a choisya get and diseases. - but Choisya is quite good at coming back from bare stems. Scale insect may be unsightly, and i'd remove it where possible (like I did here http://plant-passion.typepad.com/plant_passion/2010/08/whats-up-wit...) but it isn't going to kill your plant by die back, - it would however weaken it, and make the leaves go mottled.
  • This ive doned, its trying to convince the client that its not as bad as it looks.
