Check your compost for larvae

I thought these little critters were chafer grubs initially but I'm pretty sure they are actually stag beetle larvae (happy to be corrected if you can positively ID).

Seems my compost bin is an ideal overwintering place.

    I couldn't tell you what they are but I do know what stag beetles are quite rare so should be looked after!
