Just make sure you dont power too many batteries while the van is stationary...
You need a pure sine wave inverter. We did fit 2 vans out with them, wired into the battery and with the correct fuses.
They would happily run a van battery flat if you're not careful despite a low voltage cut off and one inverter caught fire when not even charging anything (we were lucky to have spoted it) so I got rid of them. We now take extra batteries to site as required.
As Nick says, best just to buy more battery packs. The other option would be to take some kind of rechargeable mains voltage power bank to run a charger from. But that also could end up being more trouble than it's worth
Thanks gents - I was thinking an inverter from the cigarette ligher might work but then, as Nick says, I was also thinking it might be electrically dubious.
Thats exactly what I did for about 6 years... unplug it when not in use, and get them all charging when driving between jobs
I charge on site if need be, or at home first, depending on how long I am at the job, which are mostly half days. I only spend 15 minutes max dringing to/from home so no way I could charge in the van even if I wanted to go down that route. Most clients have an outside point & don't have a problem with charging. I do have 6x AP batteries so I can work through them if needed.
I charge at customers on a Stihl fast charger if they have an outside socket but also have multiple batteries as well when I haven't got access to power.
Exactly, you are running them flat working at a clients so charge them there. No need for the unnecessary expense
I use a BLUETTI power pack and charge them up from that if I start to run low. Also has the benefit of using it to power things in our garden etc
Get an E-transit with a 240v outlet in the back- simple!
