Charging for planting schemes

How do you charge for planting schemes? I've tried using both hourly rate and fixed fee plus commission on plants. Either way I usually spend too long doing them and don't charge enough for my time.I'm wondering if anyone uses the carpet fitters pricing system of price per sq metre? It would be a more familiar way of paying for clients and you could distinguish between low cost plants e.g. bedding and high cost ones with rarer plants and trees.Or do you use the simple approach of forgetting a detailled plan - just measuring up and going to the nursery to fill up your vehicle?

  • i used to measure up and then fill up to find it wasnt cost effective, now i price per sqm with plan and this method has worked well with me.
