I use a 261 and its very good, no messing with choke just put switch to start and pull the cord and it looks after the rest, not used it cold conditions yet but my use of it so far it just works as it should with no messing around with and full power from the off.
I've got problems with mine regarding the clutch but it's in getting sorted at the mo.
What type of work will you be doing?
Small trees, ground work, cutting up logs for people that sort of thing really. I have a 291 at the moment which i bought when me 15 year 251xp husky gave up. I almost bought a 261 then but M tronic had only just been put on it so i couldn't get any feed back. Also i was working for a company so didn't use the saw anywhere near as often as i do now.
Especially for those who can’t/don’t know how to tune a carb. (Not saying you can’t though:)
I was looking at a 550 today it looks good and comes with a free bar and chain. My only reservation is that the rest of my kit is stihl and I believe you need to use Husqvarna oil otherwise the warranty is voided. At the moment one combi can of mix feeds all the kit.
Chain sharpening tools differ - Husky chains have a slightly different angle.
Husky specify a 10 degree top plate angle, Still is zero degrees. The sharpening tools accommodate those angles, so using the Stihl tool on a Husky saw or vice versa changes the spec of the sharpened chain.
I was told about the differences when I did my training, took a Husky saw and Stihl sharpening tool with me - NO said the man, use this tool and explained why.
Couldn't say how much difference it makes in the real world, I stuck with Husky and bought the correct tools.
