LJN's Business Objectives Group (BOG) is for any Pro serious about building their business.

For the researching visitor there's a wealth of landscaping ideas, garden design ideas, lawn advice tips and advice about garden maintenance.

Can't believe people still do this!

While browsing Gumtree this morning I spotted a landscaping firm advertising for staff and noticed they were using a picture as part of their advert. I'm sorry if this firm is anyone on here but if it is you shouldn't really be using pictures suggesting something is your work when it's clearly not. That this happens in this age of Google and networking is quite strange.http://www.gumtree.com/p/jobs/full-time-garden-maintenance/1072043263#photo-content

  • I have seen this with even registered installers for national companies. Probably more prevalent in design and build markets rather than maintenance but sometimes does leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Which picture do you refer Matt?

One is clearly an image of the boxwood gardens at Château de Marqueyssac

The second is of a garden build. Are you saying that the garden build image does not belong to the advertiser? or that the topiary image is being passed off as their own work?

  • Hi Phil, yeah sorry, I didn't make myself very clear did I? It was the boxwood gardens I was specifically referring to. They are an absolute masterpiece and I know take a lot of effort to perfect so when people post pictures that suggest it's their work it infuriates me! If they are that well established then why not simply post a picture of their own work? Not only does it make me suspicious of the ownership of the second picture but also makes me wonder, I'm a sole trader, I don't do the amount of work that the bigger companies do and I work alone but I have dozens of pictures of each job I do, amounting to thousands of pictures over the last 20 years, I could pick any one of them to post an ad. Why use someone else's?
