Yeah I'd agree. I've never heard of a Cherry Laurel being edible... Especially with the cyanide produced from the cuttings (albeit a tiny amount)
I suppose the connection is that Laurel is a Prunus and that Plum and Cherry are the same family - a bit tenuous. Here's a more appropriate one.
Agree...and when not pruned regularly they produce 'lovely, sweet-like looking' purple fruit pips which are worse....
