A heads up to all of you out there who buy topsoil.
Avoid the manufactured topsoil that Greentech sell.
It could seriously ruin your planting due to lack of structure and extremely high pH. It does not drain and became anaerobic as soon as it rained.
This has resulted in me and the client spending thousands to rectify. We planted most of the garden this week and that was after the soil was delivered in July 2015. Not even sure that the plants are going to grow as not even weeds are growing in it at the moment.
The best advice if you have to bring a lot of soil in like i did is to get an independent consultant in like Tim O'Hare to advise you.
Also the Gabions that Greentech sell are poor quality, where delivered without braces and no technical information was supplied, when i queried this, they referred me to a youtube clip!!
There are other companies out there selling better products and i would advise you to use them. Greentech treated me appallingly over this and they are now duly named and shamed.

Just picking thuis up abit late - but I've recently noticed alot of highly alkaline composts about - normally the greenwaset compost I buy for the farm is alkaline - thats one reason why i buy it, for its liming benefits on acid soil - but it seems that because its available for #3 a tonne companies are buying it to sell on as a topsoil in its own right, and not an amendment.
