Take a look at these previous discussions.

  • As mentioned on the linked threads above, obviously suits some people, but not others.

I once attended a breakfast meeting as an invited guest, and found the whole experience a bit discomfiting. Reminded me of a tv programme I'd seen years ago about Kirby Vacuum Salesmen, lots of forced clapping, whooping and fake bonhomie. Perhaps that was just the Chapter I attended though.

Very American format, unsurprising really considering Dr Ivan Misner from California started it all, but like many things American, doesn't always travel well abroad. IMHO. ;)

I also didn't like having to commit to a weekly meeting, preferring flexibility for my business.

No doubting it's success throughout the developed world though, horses for courses and all that, but nah, it's just not for me.

  • I'm a member of a group in Glasgow and found it good for work.

I do agree with Ian that it can be a bit over the top at points with all the clapping etc (have found this when visiting other groups, mine full of trades so is quite laid back). I would recommend finding a group with a good trade team as they are the ones that would get you the most business.
