Business Falling under CIS Scheme or Not?

I run a garden design and garden maintenance business as a sole trader and in the past I have done some landscaping also. I do not do the heavy work now due to health and age etc but from time to time I am contacted to do patios, turfing along with a garden design. My friend who is employed by another landscaper does the hard landscaping for the customer and I will do the design, project manage and pay for the materials. He gets paid for his labour directly fom the customer. I get paid for my labour which is usually planting maybe painting fences etc and for the materials inc my mark up. I do use the images from the completed projects for advertising under my business name. My question is, am I a contractor or employer here or is it a partnership? I advertise and get the clients and my friend does the bulk of the labour. I dont pay him the customer does.
