If you get the Stihl 25-2 head.... not the C25-2 head......(I'm assuming your strimmer uses these)... you can just replace the spool when its worn down. A replacement spool is about £5. I always keep a few spools, all loaded up, in the van and they can be changed really quickly...... I'm still using the same main body of the head after 10 years..... must have got through perhaps 2-3 spools/year and the "rim" that holds the spool in place tends to wear out after a couple of years or so..... they're about £10
Portek make a head with a metal bump head rather than a plastic.

I've no experience with them (or Portek equipment) but I've heard their 6 line strimmer heads are good. They're £24 from FR jones

Which is pretty similar to the stihl head so maybe is worth a punt?
