  • I feel your pain. When are the police going to take this type of crime seriously. They do the talk but end of the day they don't put sufficent resources into it as 1 its classed as non domestic and 2 they assume insurance covers the loss.
The cameras are an excellent idea as I'm sure mine has stopped a repeat visit.
If I can be of any help, just ask.
  • Since i put my solid roller elec door on new solid brick garage ive had no trouble.

when i had an old wooden doored sectional garage i had a few break ins.

just make it solid , secure so it looks maintained.

they only are opportunists and lazy so wont bother if it looks too much trouble !!

    good luck

  • cctv all up and running, 2 camaras covers all of front and rear garden, both garage doors and both gates, all in colour and infa red, perfect picture up to about 50-60ft away, police were her for about 1.5 hours, got better leads today of who it might be and have been to speak to his uncle and he thinks there could be something in it, but can not find the little git, hes probably out selling my tools.

  • I feel your pain too.
Its not just the value of what's stolen, its also the cost of the time taken to sort out the security again and go and source new tools and of course filling in the paperwork with the Police.

  • put up new steel door over the weekend, bolted hinges and locking points through the breeze block walls.

I feel so sad that you have to go to these lengths!

  • its cost me a fortune what with the cctv, steel, hinges, alarmed padlocks and the replacement of new tools.

  • Phil, I feel for you, I hate these people with a passion, they always target hard working people and you just know that they don't know the meaning of the term earning a living. Sickens me to think that they target people like us!!

Recently a landscaper round here had a big lawnmower and 2 chainsaws knicked from his garage, He was in his house at the time!!

I am going to look into setting up CCTV and perhaps a few non lethal booby traps ;-)

    Hope you get sorted Phil.

  • if you do go for a cctv unit then get the swann advanced-series, they are very clear, colour and infa red, continuous recording, the unit i got come with 2 camaras and recording unit, it is crystal clear, £207 from maplins
