Briggs & Stratton engine sales down in US & EU

Recent results from Briggs & Stratton saw a decrease in their Engine Supply division;

First quarter's (July-Sept '14) overall sales compared to same quarter last year showed a drop of 7.8% in the US.

Partly attributable to high stock levels in US, but also a key factor was the 16.7% drop in engine supplies to EU OEM's.

Are B&S going out of fashion over here to the benefit of Honda & Kawasaki engined landscaping equipment ?

    I prefer Briggs on the whole, I find they do drink more fuel but overall I've had less trouble out of them and find they seem to perform better on long days, and dont eat engine oil as much.
    That said Hondas never die. hard choice but Briggs by a pinch for me.

    most sales are down - nobody is buying as much as 4 years ago..... especially unessential's or luxury items.

    everything is 'on SALE' constantly this year.

    until the us dollar drops further - that it will v.soon exports will be lower than previous.

    they will be giving stuff away shortly , as stockpiles are high already.
