if you dont need steel toecaps then id look for really well made waterproof hiking boots -- i had a pair of these for two years untill the glue in the soles started to wear and by then they soles were getting worn down but had been pretty heavily abused -- and somehow i managed to get the store to honour a two year guarantee and somehow got a replacement pair free -- doubt thats standard practise -- but dont push it - dont get :) https://www.keenfootwear.com/en-gb/p/M-TARGHEE-II-MID-WP.html?dwvar...
Don't look on Amazon - £236 !!!!
But 2000 good revues - oh dear I just read some & a lot are saying that the quality has gone down the pan.
Hi we use Dewalt boots and we bought them from ScrewFix the last pair was purchased 2 years ago but replaced Twice since as ScrewFix guarantee is for 1 year. Replace without any quibble and no receipt but we do have a ScrewFix card/account
That's interesting. Someone on ebay has stopped selling the new ones a he said they aren't anywhere near as good as they used to be.
I wonder if it has something to do with the glue they use as all the complaints about boots seem to be the soles coming off
I would recommend Amblers boots. Depending on which model you want, they can be had on eBay for less than £45. I am on my second pair currently. The key to them is that they are Goodyear Welted construction, not just glued, so the sole will never come away from the uppers. Goodyear Welted construction is what all the top shoemakers, like Church’s, Barker, Joseph Cheaney, Trickers, Crockett & Jones and Edward Green etc. use. These and other famous Northampton made shoes are anywhere between £250 and £500 a pair. I have a few pairs of these shoes as high end shoes is my sort of thing, as it were. So the Amblers are seriously good value [likely made abroad with much cheaper labour] and as they get vey abused, I don’t want to pay top dollar for work boots. I wore mine six days a week for nearly two years before the soles wore thin and needed replacing, which can be done almost indefinitely with G.W construction. The point is though that as they are so cheap to buy, it is not worth having them resoled as this would cost more than a new pair. Mine are Amblers FS 165, which have steel toe caps, but some models don’t of course.
Can I have the lottery numbers - I was ready the Amazon reviews as you posted :)
I like the look of these. They look as if they would cope well with mud.

Amazon reviews for high end shoes you mean?
Boot reviews are always a but hit & miss. A lot of people post after they have had them a few days.
But I just emailed Black Hammer & they said that my boots are covered by a 6 month warranty. We'll see if they honour it.
I have had DeWalt challengers got a few months out of them. Tried the timberland, grisport and dock Martins all only lasted a month or so longer. Dickies lasted 2 days!
Then I bought some of these https://www.engelbert-strauss.co.uk/safety-shoes-s3-high/e-s-s3-saf... they lasted a year, still intact but no longer waterproof and looked a bit tatty.
just bought another pair as I've been very pleased with them. Just changed the laces to the more plain ones that come with them
You need to give up gardening & become a boot tester :)
