Blec Rotor Rake

Hi allI'm considering hiring a blec rotor rake for a 1000 sqm turfing job that I have coming up. Am hoping it will save a lot of hand raking though I haven't actually used one before.Has anyone had any experience of these machines ?

They are okay but hard work if you have flints to get rid of. If you have space to work the machine in 'drifts' then they are okay on level ground if the height is set right. Trial and error. We have a pedestrianised stone burier, one pass and you have a tilth to seed or turf on. Often we finish it off with a power rake to get it really neat!
  • Thanks for the replies. Hired one today and it's not done a bad job after some trial and error. As you say mike, was hard work on the very dry stoney cotswold brash we have here.

Thanks for the link Pro Gard, looks a tidy bit of kit.
  • Which company do you hire these machines from? Nobody has heard of the stone burier and likelihood of getting a demo from tracmaster slim (although John down there is trying to find out if there are any up here in Scotland). Really need one!

  • The Blec machine I hired was from an independent hire shop in Warwickshire. If it is a Blec you are after you could ring Blec UK they will tell you the nearest hire place to you. Think this is correct No. 01778 346222
  • James - have you re-visited the lawn you turfed? Any side effects from loosing the old lawn into the ground? I need to do a similar job but for 10,000 M2.

    Thanks
