Black patches in Topsoil

Hi everyone

Just been to look at a customer's lawn which we seeded a couple weeks ago and she is complaining that the seed hasn't taken everywhere yet.

It's normal for seed to take up to 3 weeks isn't it ??

Also the TopSoil has these black patches which almost look like a more stoney consistency where the seed seems to be growing better. Anyone have any ideas what this is and how it is caused ?

Thanks

Provided not been a drought or, conversely, a deluge / flood that has washed the seed to one side?

  • I reseeded an area 2 weeks ago and it's already full of lush green grass several inches tall.............  only used Wilko cheap seed in a box. I did tell the customer to water it carefully every day but not drown the area so the seed floats away!!   If it hasn't come up by now, it probably won't and you'll have to reseed it.
