• As in an old clay quarry?
IMO best way to improve clay soil for planting is adding lots of orgenic matter and cultivation. I would suggest double digging and avoiding machinery or even heavy foot trafic.
This can be done in advance of the winter and then you can utilise natures frost thaw process to help further break down the clay.
    • Also soil injection is a great way to help break up clay and get oxygen into the soil. This can be done to help break compaction pans.
