Best access for hedges over 20 ft

Always seem to have issues when it comes to a few hedges I cut that are over about 20 ft.

,My henchman 14 ft doesnt quite get over the top as you cant get it too close or you cant see over but further back wont reach, and I find regular ladders slightly unsafe when waving a polesaw or hedge trimmer about.

Needs about another 6  foot.

trouble is I dont charge enough to warrant hiring a cherry picker or access tower- thats my issue though.

What would everyone recommend?

Thanks.

  • Have you tried tying a long board across the top of the ladder ? Not ideal and it depends on what you are cutting but on the rare occasion I've had to do this , its easier not to do these sort of jobs .

I agree ,encountered similar problems cutting at height even with my henchman so decided to put a limit on the hedge height I was prepared to undertake .

I would just say height is beyond my remit and more within the scope of a tree surgeon .

There is more than enough accessible hedge cutting rather than having to scale heights ..

      • my thoughts too...................  plenty of other work about so just say you can't do it.
