I've just been reading this article on TechCrunch about this computer guided automated robot. Disney have used it to demonstrate how sketches can be made on the beach.
"It doesn't require much thinking to come up with practical uses for this, even just within the realm of Disney. Disney has beach resorts. People would flip out to wake up in the morning and see their favorite characters drawn in the sand outside of their room — and by lunch, high tide would come in and wash it away, prepping the canvas for a new drawing the next day."
Of course this is a fun application but I can think of at least two (possibly three) applications in our industry.
- Automated weed control on mapped areas.
- Automated grass cutting on mapped areas (gets away from irritating guide-wire you have to install at boundaries).
- Automated white lining of sports pitches.

pair with cad drawing program to map out onto a flat area exact scaled up locations of the raised beds / patios / deck etc etc
basicaly get onto site in the morning to rip out all the rubish and old stuff then flatten area off and let this little thing go mark out for you while you have a nice cup of tea and prep tools
