I'm looking for something like this as well - a client gave me a Mountfield battery mower last year - but the battery needs replacing and is £150... + it seems that although it has only been used in one small garden it is 3 years old.... so will not be that powerful compared with a new one ++ I really do not want another charger and battery system.
Last week in the local shop I saw that Stihl have bought some out, that run on the same batteries as the strimmer etc.... I'm tempted https://www.stihl.co.uk/STIHL-Products/STIHL-Cordless-Power-Systems...
I do have a little 240v Bosch Rotak - and its great... but the catch is the client has to be in ... or have an outside power point for me to use it.
It's the same mower as the Viking MA339c I think. Stihl are rebranding some of the Viking range I think. Maybe there are some bargains to be had:)
You're right Jim.....but apparently they take different batteries. .....according to my dealer
Same battery Adam. You can gat it in a bundle with a Sthil AP200 battery and charger from justlawnmowers on line.
I stand corrected Adam, a backward step by Stihl in my opinion.
We use a Rotak for small gardens where we don't want to use the Honda pro mower. Really light and has a rear roller as well as two batteries. Early days but impressed so far.
My wife has just started her 3rd year and isnow on her 3rd Bosch 37li mower. She needed a lightweight mower to get in and out of her car. Cutting about12 lawns per week. They are great little mowers apart from one problem - replacing the blade. We tried to replace the blade at the end of year one and we could not remove the blade, the bolt just turned without undoing. We returned the mower and got a replacement. Mower no 2, and exactly the same problem at the end of 2nd year. Now on mower no 3, but now also have a Hayter for the larger gardens.
Hi all,
We are rebranding our VIKING cordless mowers to STIHL this year (all other VIKING machines will be rebranded as STIHL in 2019). Most of the machines are just a straight rebrand (i.e. the same machine but in orange), but with the VIKING MA 339 C / STIHL RMA 339 C, there have actually been a couple of changes. One change is that it now has a direct drive motor (it has no belt), and the other change is the battery that it takes. The MA 339 C did take the AP range of batteries, but the new RMA 339 C has been moved into our COMPACT Cordless range and now takes an AK 20 battery instead. If you want a STIHL lawnmower that works with the AP range of batteries, you would need to look at the RMA 443 C / RMA 443 TC / RMA 448 TC lawnmowers (https://www.stihl.co.uk/STIHL-Products/STIHL-Cordless-Power-Systems...). These all have wider cutting decks and bigger grass collection boxes as well.
I do just want to mention though that these are all intended to be a domestic mowers and the warranties do reflect that – the STIHL cordless mowers all have a three month professional warranty only.
I hope that helps but let us know if you need any other information.
Thanks very much
Happy with the ego mower and think The warranty is longer than Stihl, used it for three hours today and spent 4p re-charging it, well the customer did!
