Backing up PC's - easy and cheap if you're with Barclays

We had some virus problems over the last two weeks with our business computer, which is all sorted now. However it made me look carefully at how we backup our business data,  (and importantly my music & photo's ....).

I've gone with a solution underwritten by Barclays Business Banking and hosted by I-Sure in secure datacentres. It costs a "cheap" £2.75+vat pm for UNLIMTED backup for 12months. It then changes to £2.75+vat pm for 10gb, with each additional GB costing 30p.

You download some smart software, that continually uploads changed files etc in the background with no performance effect. You can control what you want to be backed up or it has some 'intelligence' to review your data sets and decide what's important....

  • Very important issue,

I have learnt the hard way as i lost nearly 30 Gb of music, video and photo's when i had to reinstall my OS, Foolishly all the files were on the C drive which got wiped during the reinstall. This was a painfull lesson,

I now have an external hard drive for all these files, and now my business files too, and i make copies of important files to a secondary internal hard drive too.

What you describe Gary, looks very usefull.

  • I've just been bitten on the bum by a faulty windows. I've had to re install windows and have lost quite a bit of music and some work files. I need some sort of way of backing up my laptop. Is this above method recommended?
Or can someone else recommend some other product?
    Thanks
