Back of van liner

Hi all, it's time for me to replace the plywood floor on one of my vans due to it flaking and rotting.
Just wondering if anyone uses plastic sheets or is ply the best for a particular reason??

Wet machinery and cubic metre bags of waste constantly  in and out.

thanks

We've just put these in our new vans:

Very tough, easy to fit and cut to shape as interlocking. Quite happy so far,

Have used stable floor matting - the ones with holes before. Very good, but you need to pull out every few weeks to clean debris. Beware that getting a thick quality one will add weight to the van and needs to be factored in.

thats the 96 pack. We put it in 3 vans with some spare left over.

  • If it van floor/paint work protection you are after then the very best solution is a Line-x spray on coating. I have had all eight of my Hiluxes done when they were new so have first-hand experience over many years as to how good it is. It never fails in any way.

The paintwork is sanded lightly for a key and then the compound is sprayed on. It is very, very tough and you can’t get any water or debris under it like you get with ply or plastic sheets. It is often the case with normal lining techniques that the damage to the floor is happening under the protective sheeting out of sight. It is only when it is eventually taken out that the rot or abrasions to the paint are revealed.

Line-x is usually applied with a textured finish, but you can opt for a smooth finish if you prefer.

It is a fit and forget solution.

Hi vic, any idea on prices?

  • Thanks for all replies and suggestions. I've gone with the stable mats. There was so much dirt under Meath the old plywood, hopefully this way I can pick them up and clean it out often. Maybe next time I will research the line x spray. Is it expensive?
