Artificial grass issue

Not sure if this is in the right group, and I'm not in the profession just a customer who hasn't had a good experience looking for some advice.

I had somw artificial grass laid at the end of summer 2025. Just a few days later there was a heavy storm. A few days later again, I noticed some air pockets and some hard lumps under the grass. The guy that laid the grass said it must be mice, couldn't be anything else as we back onto a farm.

Any advice on this please?31080804861?profile=RESIZE_710x31080804856?profile=RESIZE_710x31080805059?profile=RESIZE_710x31080805065?profile=RESIZE_710x

  • A mole.

  • Have seen similar tracks under slabs on a site we have  caused by rats . The holes that have been chewed through also are indicitive of rat damage, possibly mice but unlikely as astro turf is very tough and  I question whether mice would be able to chew through it

     Can't see moles chewing through.

    • Thanks.

There's no entry point through the artificial grass and we can't see any other entry points. They must be coming up from a low point in the soil adjacent.

  • have you got a trail cam, looks like mice or rats. you could try putting down a trap sutabley coverd to stop non target species getting in then you will know how to proceed

    • Thanks. We have bought some heavy duty traps which will be laid this weekend.
