Anyone else out here with big feet?

Hi everyone,Right, I'm having a problem with work boots. I'm a size 13, so most boots I cannot buy as they only usually go up to 12. I have previously had Dickies (we're recommended as a good brand) and within 3 months have totally split. Also had dewalt boots, again around the 3 month mark failed. I'm currently wearing my chainsaw boots, but day in day out are too heavy for what I need. Can anyone recommend/ link any boots they have found hold up and work?

I use and find them good quality.

  • Hi Daniel,

I had a colleague many years ago who took a size 16. .He got them from Altberg based in Richmond North Yorkshire as they do boots to measure (at a cost). I can see that they have in stock boots up to a size 15 in many different styles.

I had a pair (size 10) many years back and they were very comfortable, although I can't remember the style of boot. They lasted a couple of years but needed resoling, which Altberg do.

I use timberland work boots not cheap and last pair lasted just over a year with heavy daily(almost) use.
Not sure on size 13 though
  • Hi Daniel,

I mainly use 2 brands. Buckler which at about £80 last me 10months. Nothing I do can get them to last a year but I'm happy with 10 months. I also use Redwing's 2226's but I can only reliably get these from the U.S. Last me 12 months at just over £100. Both brands go up to size 13. I've tried so many others and they fall short although I would like to give Timberland Pro's a go.

PS.  I don't juggle between the 2. I wear one pair solid until they need replacing

    Regards Neil

Hi, Yes I had exactly the same problem. All the safety boots I purchased only lasted around 3 months before disintegrating.
I used to purchase the cheaper varieties available around the £40 mark, but pushed the boat out wildly and purchased a pair at £115 hoping that they too wouldn't fail after 3 months use. Thankfully after 18 months of wear the soles are finally wearing away, but the remainder of the boots are still good condition, no internal wear of lining and still original laces. The boots are Steitz, and I purchased them in Arco. I've just ordered a new pair from my local store who are having a 25% off everything sale next week (29th September) not sure if it's nation wide but check with your local shop. Not only can you get a size 13, but they also come in a variety of width fittings, and internal changeable cushioning pads!
