    Ant powder.

      tryed ant powder underneath it and round the base but they are still there

        You need a great deal of powder to work.

        Can you not empty the planters, remove the ants and then re-pot?

    Water, lots of water. Run the hose for a few minutes and they'll clear out and find somewhere else. They want to nest somewhere dry so flooding them out usually works for me.
