I have suffered from hayfever since i was little, it has got better as i've got older.

I would have thought that in this line of work being exposed to large quantities of pollen that i would build up an immunity. But every year between the end of may and the beginning of july i am sneezing and i've got itchy eyes.so i end up on a daily dose of Citerizine Hydrochloride which holds it off.

When will my body learn that pollen is not a threat??

Does any one else have this affliction?

My sympathies. I get it too, although it has reduced in severity over the years. I have a pill every morning though just to make sure.

Started suffering from hayfever in my early twenties - it's mainly in June with all the grass pollen, especially down at the allotment next to abandoned plots with long flowering grass. Try to take a tablet only when it starts getting really bad as not so keen on pill-popping!
  • yeah i've got it too but not too bad just keep popin the pills from end of march till sept. Only stopped me working a couple of years ago when strimming over grown grass bank.

Yes, snuffly nose, cloudy head. Just have to get on with it really!
  • Terrible over the last week. Almost gets in the way of work at times.

    Sorry, no miracle cure.

  • Had it for as long as I can remember!! I use a three pronged attack every morning, piriteze tablets / opticrom eye drops / beconase nasal spray.

Of all the different pills and potions out there this works best for me!
  • I did once use nasal spray but found it to be one of the most uncomfortable things i've ever experienced.

A few years ago i tried piriton syrup, but ended up drinking loads of it and it was like being on drugs, so in the interests of safety i stopped that, the citerizine works well for me, one a day tablets,.

Well, i'm glad i'm not the only one!!!

  • have you tried a spoon of local honey every day it works for some
  • I use Rhinocort Aqua nasal spray, and find it remarkably good - almost 100% effective for me (and in the past I've found hayfever really debilitating).   Might be worth another go?

    I found the following advice:

"Spray a fine mist of water over the garden with the hose to dampen down pollen in the air."

    Is that practical?
