Air staplers

Had to construct a fairly long length of picket fencing last week and bought myself  an air stapler which fires 40mm staples through wood........ really impressed. Takes a fraction of the time compared to nailing and the planks are really held firmly onto the cross rails. They also sink just below the surface which looks a bit better as well..... at least I think they do!  The stapler set me back £60 and the compressor was about £100 when I bought it.

  • What thickness of 'pickets' did you use? What thickness will the stapler go up to?

  • 40mm staples, 20mm pickets. 40mm appears to be the max lenth you can get though you can get longer air nailers. Also found it incredibly useful doing some dreaded home decorating and putting up architraving and attaching mdf board to battening. Have also tried it on feather edge boards onto arris rails and again, incredibly quick and very secure... have been putting 2 staples onto each support bar/arris rail.
