SEO should be at the start of the process when looking to build a website for business, I recently re-built mine as although my last site looked great it didn't rank very well.
I found there is a few different free SEO website checkers out there that will access your website and you should be able to use it as a guide.

Google's own SEO guide is worth casting an eye over:

I quite like the simplicity of it, but just wondering Phil, do you need the testimonials? They always look a bit suspect to me..........but maybe that's just me!
Could probably do with a few more pics in the gallery and I take it that all pics are your own that are on the site.
yeh still updating due to past issues colin
do you not think potential clients like to see what current/past customer have to say
To be honest Phil, we are all 'potential clients' and when I am looking for work to be done I take absolutely no notice of any 'testimonials' on the basis that they could be your mum, aunt, best mate or simply made up.
i see
Hello Phil
I really like the website. It looks current, well designed and well thought out. Few things that need developing but overall it comes across as very professional. A few suggestions I would give would be:
1. I agree with Colin on the testimonials. They don't come across as very credible. Have you considered replacing them with more of your services boxes like above? Afterall, people are going to be much more interested in the services that you offer as opposed to reading reviews that could have been written by anybody.
2. How is the call to action winter special offer going, getting much take up? Could be an idea to have a slightly different offer every season. Doesn't have to be anything big, just something to differentiate yourself from the local competition
3. This might be just me but why are the three boxes all different sizes. The one on the right sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm a stickler for this sort of thing. I like things to be uniform. Take a look at my site here: http://goo.gl/oiOv4l Feel free to critique it btw, always looking for feedback of any kind whether good or bad
4. Someone has said more images aswell. Agree with this. Is there anyway of categorising the images to improve navigation?
I'm up in Crewe at the moment Phil, not far from you. Very cold one this morning
Cheers
Steve
Many thanks steve
1. yes i agree with your thoughts on testermials and removing it from page
2.have been meaning to update that offer but also being playin with thought of freshing it up alttle also
3 is that the main slider part u mean
4 because of reasons for part 2 is why held off adding more imagies
very cold this morning not very from me in alrtincham
cheers
Hello Phil
On point 3, now you have removed the testimonials it seems to have addressed the issue that I raised. Happy days :)
Got to say it looks a lot better with the reviews removed. The home page is looking really good!
I've got a bit more feedback on the about us page & the services page
About us page:
Can you add a couple of images to this? It currently looks very text heavy and it would put me off reading it. Pictures of you or employees would add a personal touch to the page. After all the page is called about us so adding some pictures/info about the people in the company would be well aligned with the type of content people would expect to see on about us page. I have seen other companies do this quite well. Check out this link:
http://landformconsultants.co.uk/profile/people/management_team/rud...
another angle to go at her could be images of the company vehicles or images of you or your staff at work. Just ideas
Our service:
Same issue here. Could you not have your services in images boxes with text underneath like you have done with the 3 main service options (domestic garden maintenance, commercial maintenance, soft landscaping) on your home page. Doing this would massively improve the appearance of the page and would also improve navigation and browsing experience for the user
Cheers
Steve
