I use a Fitbit charge HR. Its amazing how many steps you can take in a day. Quite interesting and definitely think it is a good idea
I am training for a marathon in September and use it to see that I don't burn myself out.
A couple of us at work have these ...From Amazon, @ <£20 with free iOS & Android app Zeroner to down load - monitors; steps, calories, distance, sleep and has alarm. Can set daily targets. BT enabled, mine is set to vibrate on a call (shows caller ID), messages etc. Does not monitor heat rate. Can also track you via the Phone's GPS and plot on the map (bit big brother ;)
Loads of different styles available, all using the same interface to app. Cheap enough not worry about if you damage it.

Looks like the one's we have..... simple to use.
I'm going to get a fitness monitor - mainly for health reasons but also for the fun of knowing how far I walk and how much exercise I get.
In the last two days I've met with two people (unrelated) who were wearing Fitbits. Seems like they're becoming mainstream.
I've been using S health on my phone - Last 10 weeks.
Amazing, on a weekend I take about 6000 -8000 steps a day.
Weekedays between 25,000 tio 35,000.
An extra 1500 calories of steps!
I use S Health too but find it can be quite inaccurate. When I'm using my rideon it counts that as running.
Interesting stuff. I went for the expensive one in the end - the fitbit charge HR. Will see how things go. Just interested to see how many calories I get through. Will report back. I will also be interested if it can withstand the rough and tumble of landscaping in the rain and mud!
