A good Friday, yes not bad, thank you

At this time of year, we are working as normal when perhaps others are not, which gives us a chance to catch up on life, the universe, etc.

A stocktake, tidy up day yesterday and today.  Over 1,800 plants 2&3 litre plants, weeded, tidied, pruned, moved and counted, a good two days.

We do not have weeds in our own 5 & 10 litre stock, as we grow in 100% bark, so tomorrow, Sunday and Monday are "spraying days" for the pathways and boundries of our Nursery.

Clean and tidy by the 2nd week in June, or that was always the aim in the old days for Wholesale Nurseries.

Clean and tidy all year round, that is our challenge.

    Hot cross buns Mmmm:)

As a kid I lived on a council estate. It was a horseshoe crescent with a little 'corner shop' just a 5-10 minute walk from our house.

In those days the shop received fresh bread deliveries from a the Standford bakery (about 7 miles away).

It was a ritual for one of us to collect the buns for breakfast (although we weren't regular breakfast eaters otherwise). Delicious with lots of butter washed down with a cup of strong tea:)

I had a black labrador in those days and if it was my turn to collect, she would carry the bag of 12 buns gently in her mouth back to the house - never once tried to eat any.

    Watering plants

I spoke to John Hanson of Garden Style on Thursday and (I'm sure Steve and Tina already know this) he told me they are using 15-20,000 gallons of water per day to keep plants happy. John tells me it's what they'd normally apply in mid-summer rather than mid-April: they will be working throughout the weekend.
