750KG trailers

Hi all....buying a trailer in the next couple of days for mowers and keeping me in logs for the winter... have used a mates Caddy 640T in the past and I like the twin axle...but a tad expensive I can get one for 770 quid delivered and this would be pretty much the cheapest twin axle I could get !

Also been looking at Paxton...single axle but 13 inch wheels and look sturdier...also comes with spare wheel and jocky wheel and it's a foot longer for 640 quid...

Any advice or reckomendsations I'm all ears

Cheers
Mark

  • I own a paxton 7x4 Trailer.

    They are good little trailers, you have to build them up from a kit.

    Very well made, bar 3 points;

    You will forever be tightening bolts until the trailer is worn in.

    The hitch is not sprung so when full loaded it can be a very ROUGH ride if the road has potholes on. This causes wear on the hitch mount bolts and as a result of towing it at 10mph down a farm track (empty) One bolt sheared. I have since had the mount welded rather than 2 8mm bolts hold it in place.

    It has a tendancy to jump when empty on uneven surfaces as it seems to be sprung for carrying a load of 300kg at all times. This said I think they use the same suspension on all models so it may just be a function of 7x4 been lighter than the larger models.

    for the money, and a few modifications you cannot fault them.

  • I have a phoenix 8'x4' it was £750 ish can't fault it. Had it for 4 yrs.

  • Paxton trailers are very near me. I am thinking of purchasing one myself. I know a few others that have Paxton trailers and think they are good for the money. You can buy them in kit form or they build them up for you.
  • Thanks for your input folks..lady luck was with me I think as late last night I spotted an ad for a Brenderup...when I got there today to take a look it turned out it was the bigger model than listed a 2205SB ie braked and 1050KG net load capacity, 14inch wheels etc...in good order with a cover and a Bulldog hitch lock all for 530 quid...it towed beatifully on the way home no jumping about..reverses good...I'm well chuffed

  • Serviced the trailer over the weekend all the brakes look like new in there...tires only 1/3 worn brake ram and stuff needed a good lube..drilled out a couple of loose rivetts and replaced with stainless bolts and nylocs...mate of mine has some VW golf wheels with the same PCD so I'll see if they fit and then have a spare as well as being only a single axle trailer I reckon best be safe than sorry ;-)

    I'm in trailer love !!!
