Up until recently I've always had a 40" single sided hedge cutter in my arsenal. Iloved them and fond they make a noticeable difference on the sides of large hedges. I've used both the Stihl and the Echo and really rated both. Not used the Husqvarna one. I wouldn't generally use them on shrubs and the like, always had a shorter 2 sided pair for that. I found you get used to the weight but they are a bit heavy. My longest is now around 32" as I have very few really large hedges these days thankfully.
Good idea re shrub use...it will be my main cutter, maybe 30 inch will be better compramise
