I have been up since 6am, unable to sleep due to the intense winds battering the landscape. I have been listening to people's bins being blown over, bottles flying along the road, branches cracking, chimneys howling (not falling, thankfully) and greenhouse glass smashing.
The M8 motorway in Glasgow city centre has been closed due to overturned lorries, the bridges are closed, gusts reported started at 60mph at 7am this morning but the latest one is 95 and rising. Now my back fence has blown over so a trip to the timber merchants is on the agenda for today (or as soon as the wind dies down).
From a business perspective I have been in contact with all clients advising them that I clear fallen trees and will be happy to clear debris once it settles down. This is an inevitable consequence of british winters, though it has to be said this winter is worse than any I can remember.
The chainsaws are at the ready!

Same here in the south where we don't normally have weather: really noisy night although I suspect nothing like you are getting, Dan.
I lost three (very old) larch lap panels, rang Champion Timber and they are not reserving panels unless you pay for them.
That's Saturday morning sorted out then......
