Sadly , I saw few left old homes with gardens, in israel.
They looked really well ( in the hot weather).
Plants are not really as in your planting scheme - but as you said it is a modern one.
What I really like is what the call ther 'boostan' garden (or bustan). It is a mix of veg, herbs and fruit garden.
If in the uk it could be walled for weather protection- the boostan garden got screens to protect from animals eating crops.
When you travel for few days in the desert and than see these oasis with boostan gardens- it is amazing. ( I did in sinai- years ago- but not that safe these days)
Thanks Brigitt. It was a joy to plant cacti. Never had an environment where we could play with those.
