Car or Train

Oh what fun.I have been deliberating all day whether to go up to Walsall by car or by train to morrow to meet with clients. When I rang National Rail Enquiries to see about the journey,I knew the answer before I eventually got to talk to a human being. Yes-there will be delays-but I won't be able to find out until I get to the station by which time I could have been halfway up the M40. Well, what to do.By train I can't take samples of paving.By car I might be delayed by roadworks.By train ,snow may be on the line.By car, accidents may close the carriageways. I have it.I am going to make a small helicopter that can go from my front path ,fly me to walsall, drop me in a pub after for a break and fly me back home into my kitchen all by 4pm.Hmmm,must be dreaming again..........zzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Hi Claudia,

Couple of mini tips on the post.

White space is your friend, so do look to put some paragraph marks between your writing, it makes it easier for people to read your work.

And the tags area is best used to describe the article so in this case it could be travel, business, paving.

I see what you wanted to do which was link back across to your own website, but you need to do that as if it was a signature at the end of your piece, more here on how to link to another web page.

Any questions just drop me a line.

    Craig
  • Hats off to you - posting at 1:33AM and I assume traveling to Walsall a little later.
  • Thank you all for the advice and kind words.Would like to take u up on your offer Mr Wild!

Well - I made it. Of course the 8.03 had been cancelled so we hearded on to the 8.23 not before having to wait 30 minutes at the station wondering if the train would leave at all.

It is quite amusing looking at the back of a sea of heads as we all strained our necks to look up at the train timetable boards.

I made my way past the crowds on to a carriage-had to walk past 4 1st class ones to get to a 'normal' one. Then the enivitable fight of trying to find a seat. Why is everyone going to Birmingham the same time and day as me?

At last I found a seat-3 men and me.All huge too! I was hanging off on to the aisle getting knocked by eveyone who walked past. Ten minutes in and we were off.Loads of people suddenly appeared from other carriages looking for seats.

I get bashed about 30 times, coffee spilt all over my jeans and my foot is swollen from being trampled on.And I payed £66 for this!

Announcement comes on tanoid-they are letting people sit in first class from 2nd as there are no more seats! Typical- Why tell me that NOW!

Then another announcement.Due to the previous cancellations this train will now stop at Rugby and Coventry where more people will get on!

Oh my god-I think I want to get off.I can't take it.I should have driven.

After 2 hours I get to Birmingham.I want to go home!! Another 40 minutes to go to get to the job.My landscaper picks me up from the station except he can't park near so I lug my bag miles in the cold through concrete barriers to find where he is and we set off.

    More to follow.......................
  • We arrive at the destination and I am bursting for the loo! Typical female. We knock on the door and before I can even say hello to the clients I am pushing past Mr Client heading to a small door which i assume is the loo but turns out to be the coat cupboard.
' Please forgive me I cry, I have to make a visit'. Mr Client awkwardly shows me to another small door and I hurry in before I am about to explode.

Once seated , we discuss the project with Mr and Mrs Client. I have prepared a folder with pictures and scale drawings and a brief.
After a cup of tepid tea we venture outside to look at the site. And , the heavens open.Typical. Cold and wet, I get my tape out and start pacing the ground.

I am so cold , my hands are stuck to the tape.Ten minutes later, Mr and Mrs go in. Michael and I stay outside freezing but carry on -such proffessionals!

We check everything four times and look over the site which seems smaller than the first visit. This always surprises me. It is like seeing a house for the first time. You have to go back so a second viewing and you notice other things..........
  • aaaaahh the joys' petrol would be more £s depending on vehicle ..............
i drive to london from shropshire 30 miles, west from walsall - most fortnights cost £65 in Lpg (env freindly)......automatic / cruise control !!
did u say they made u a brew ? but did u find the pub ? x good luck
  • Yes found the pub-that was the best bit about the job! It is literally over the road just a shame it doesn't do accomodation as when the job starts I have to look for somewhere to stay.
  • how did that walsall job go ?
  • Well it didn't , in fact they stole my ideas and designs so it may not yet be over! Left a very bad taste and made me quite low for a bit. I spent days and hours on the designs and was led up the garden path! Not very nice at all. Long story. Thank you fro asking and remembering.

Cordless hedge cutter

Looking for cordless hedge cutter with the motor at the battery/handle end and telescopic . Find the ones with the motor at the blade end unbalanced, and before anyone says it - no the battery does not counter balance it well.  Not bothered on brand.
