THE BRITISH TRADITIONAL MOLECATCHERS REGISTER  ( www.britishmolecatchers.co.uk ) is proud to announce their "Molecatcher of the Year Award 2010".....

We are the National Register for Traditional Molecatchers and our website is the  best place to find a Traditional Mole Catcher in your area. Traditional Molecatchers are becoming a rare breed themselves!!

The winner of our this year's BTMR Molecatcher of the Year Award is Dave Jones of North Yorkshire.

The British Traditional Molecatchers Register are delighted that it goes to such a worthy winner and fine ambassador for this great profession.  When told of the award Dave replied......

"I have been working in the Pest Control business for Root n Rodent for about 26 years and specialising in moles for Mole Control since learning to catch them the traditional way from a respected old local Traditional Molecatcher

He taught me the skills of the countryman and let me in on the secret ways of the mole. I will always remember the thrill of checking my traps for the first time and finding my first mole!

I still get that same feeling  of achievement every time even now.

I have a job that I have enjoyed from that very first success. The mole is a very worthy adversary and is not always easy to outwit.

I am now passing my knowledge onto a younger employee of our company who also enjoys learning the old ways as it is so important to pass these skills on so that they are not lost.

I plan to be “The Mole Man” for many more years and become as skilled and knowledgeable  as my mentor."

More details about BTMR can be found on our website which is the countries leading register of Traditional Molecatchers in the UK.   Anyone with a Mole problem can find a Traditional Molecatcher local to them - details of where you can contact your local Traditional Molecatcher is free from our website, together with a wealth of Mole related information.

"Plus it doesn't matter if we all know plants are better value. I'd make the point of this to the customer but if they want trough grown at the extra cost that's their choice I'd just do it"

"I've done 5ft Thorne troughs. Very easy to plant just got a mini digger dug the trench then drop them in couldn't be easier however £250 per m does seem expensive. "

"Disagree there!  I maintain a site with a couple of of large laurel hedges and one cut in July suffices and keeps it looking nice.  Agree.... looks nasty immediately after cutting but quickly perks up so you don't notice the cut leaves.  Pretty much…"

"That's pretty much my thinking, but I am seeing them more and more. Mostly at expensive new builds. Mostly people with very limited gardening experience wanting an immediate finished product. "
