Nothing quite like parents....

This morning, we've had an email... It's headed "from me to you" and comes from Fereday's Dad (Fereday Snr).... now, from the heading, you'd be forgiven for thinking Fereday Snr is about to impart some age-old Fereday family wisdom... but you'd be wrong....Hi Cat and Andrew,I have just finished preparing the July Bulletin of the geology group.... I thought that you might like to read about the slime mould eating beetles.Lots of Love XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe spectre of heredity (which is the mother of all bogeymen) has just coasted into view like a giraffe on rollerskates.... and Fereday is now rocking in the corner.I can tell the only way out of this one is to promise to take him to Pirate Day at Harlow Carr! Must dash, need to find the stuffed parrot and the eye patches. "Aaarrrr".

  • Apparently some team of bug specialists have named a couple of species of slime-mould eating beetles after Gearge Bush and members of his administration - Agathidium bushi and A. rumsfeldi. Bush was reported to be quite pleased at being immortalised in the name of a beetle (or would that be a weevil?).
