Interesting news from Stihl in the US - fair to expect these to appear in the UK ?

Comments suggest a new battery system - wonder what the back compatibility will be ?

Stihl is launching a new of line of gasoline-powered products, specifically designed for easier use, less maintenance and longer run times, the company said.

This spring, the professional models will come with a host of new features and enhancements. The new string trimmers, edgers, KombiMotors and bed redefiner are designed with larger fuel tanks, providing 30 percent longer run times than the previous models. The new units boast a simplified three-step start procedure enabled by the semi-automatic choke lever, and each product’s vertical pleated paper air filter allows for better filtration, extended replacement intervals and long service life, Stihl said.

“The company’s pursuit of continuous improvement has resulted in the largest product line launch in Stihl history,” said Steve Meriam, director of sales at Stihl. “By providing professionals more options, Stihl solidifies its position as the number one selling brand of gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment in America and the No. 1 selling brand among U.S. landscape professionals.”

In addition, the redesigned and lighter gearbox on the new pole pruners and extended-reach hedge trimmers shift weight to the powerhead of the unit for balance and maneuverability, helping users work for longer periods with less fatigue.

Additions to the Stihl range of professional gas-powered products include:

  • Seven string trimmers: the Stihl FS 91, FS 91 R, FS 111, FS 111 R, FS 111 RX, FS 131 and FS 131 R;
  • Three edgers: the Stihl FC 91, FC 96 and FC 111;
  • Three KombiMotors: the Stihl KM 91 R, KM 111 R and KM 131 R;
  • One dedicated bed redefiner: the Stihl FB 131;
  • Five pole pruners: the Stihl HT 102, HT 103, HT 132, HT 133 and HT 250; and
  • Four extended-reach hedge trimmers: the Stihl HL 91 K (0°), HL 94 K (0°), HL 94 K (145°) and HL 94 (145°).

Other new Stihl products to be introduced this year include: nine battery products, launching as part of the new Stihl Lightning Battery System and nine additional gas-powered models, including a new line of STIHL pressure washers.

    The new xx1 engines are already avaliable in the UK according to the stihl site.

    Who knew of their release in the UK tho and not yet readily available at Dealership level (just checked with one of our Dealers)? I would assume Dealers want to see stocks of previous range sold first......

  • Nothing was on show, or any information at saltex stand in November, and I asked the staff. Only a backpack blower smaller than the br600 magnum.

    I doubt anything other than the new battery Cordless stuff will be out in the UK for at least 12mths. I wish there was. I'm a big stihl & combi fan using my 2nd Km130r and magnum. With pole pruner, hedgecutting extension and strimmer end. I also use hs81r 30" and a few saws Inc T-201 tc. Top handle.

"At those very low rates Lee, I could find you a lot of work. I effectively pay my strimmer man between £40 and £55 per hour [price per job so the faster he works the higher his hourly rate] and he is using my equipment and fuel."

"As posted on here numerous times the Honda HRX 537 HY or the smaller 476 are bombproof and will mulch or collect well, we run 3 commercially and wouldn't buy anything else.
My only thoughts going from a roller to 4 wheel is the issue of tramlines"

Hi guys. I've been in business 7 years and it appears to be time to buy a new mower. I've been using a Hayter 41 Pro roller and AS 420 Superclip mulching mower, the combo has worked well. But I managed to wreck the engine on the Hayter and it's £530…
