Fifteen Wyevale Nurseries' employees will walk 30 miles along the Mortimer Trail on Saturday, 7 June in aid of Greenfingers, which is dedicated to creating gardens at children’s hospices nationwide.
Adam Dunnett, Sales and Marketing Director at Wyevale Nurseries, explained: “We thought taking part in a sponsored walk would be a great way to raise some money for Greenfingers. The charity does such fantastic work creating and improving the gardens at children’s hospices, which are invaluable to the families that use them.
The walk will take the group through the Shropshire and Herefordshire countryside from Ludlow to Kington.
The walk starts at Ludlow Castle and heads towards Aymestrey, crossing the River Teme before going through Haye Park Wood and Deer Park. This will then end up at the British Iron Age hill fort at Croft Ambrey.
At Aymestrey the team will join the River Lugg that will take them to Shobdon Hill Wood. The path will lead them to Byton and then onto Wapley Hill Iron Age Fort, and then finishing at Kington.
The Wyevale team hope to raise more than £1,000 for Greenfingers. If people would like to sponsor us they can visit our JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/teams/Wyevale.”
Greenfingers was launched in November 1998 by a group of volunteers drawn from all sectors of the gardening industry.
The charity makes spaces for the whole family, so they can have fun, play and laugh away from the bedside, as well as having the space to rest, reflect and remember. To date, Greenfingers has created 42 gardens.
