Wild flower turf or seed? A chance to see the figures

One of the talks at the Creating Landscapes show was by James Hewetson-Brown, of Wild Flower Turf, who argued that it was better to use turf instead of seed to create a meadow.

Such a belief shouldn't come as any surprise considering the products James offers, but in his presentation besides explaining some of the installation steps involved, he also highlighted the cost savings.

The presentation can be downloaded below, and in it you will find James' estimation of the costs involved, which he believes shows a saving of around £6 per sq metre over three years.

James has also written up a report about his time at the Creating Landscapes show.

  • We met with James at the Show, although sadly missed his talk.

This is a subject that we are frequently asked about by our customers, so during the Show I took time to visit their stand.  I explained this situation to James, and he was very happy to help, giving me loads of leaflets and infomation to pass onto our Landscape customers.

James kindly emailed us after the Show, offering us more information, should we need it, for our customers.

What comes from Creating Landscapes is not just the two days, but the networking, and support, just like LJN.  Full details of this product can be found either through Wild Flower Turf or from the Somerstock South West Landscapers Centre.

Great to hear Steve, as you highlight the CL show isn't just about two days in October, the other 363 days of the year are just as important with connections taking place through the network

"I've done 5ft Thorne troughs. Very easy to plant just got a mini digger dug the trench then drop them in couldn't be easier however £250 per m does seem expensive. "
