The Grown in Britain initiative has received a boost Travis Perkins joined with Grown in Britain, an initiative changing how timber is sustainably sourced and used in the UK.
Simon Pearson, Travis Perkins Product Group Director, said:
"We’re proud to support the Grown in Britain initiative and to reflect the popularity of home grown timber in seven of our branches.”
In the initial seven branches, the range has been amended to feature more home grown products, reducing Travis Perkins’ reliance on imported timber. Not only will this move support high-quality, UK timber, and the rich range of services provided by Britain’s forest and woodlands, but it will provide increased price competitiveness for the benefit of customers.
Dougal Driver, Chief Executive of Grown in Britain, said:
“Many people are surprised at how much wood products support their daily lives. From the roofs over their heads and furniture in their homes, to pallets carrying the things they buy, wood is used pretty much everywhere. Using British timber will see more woods planted and managed and boost the forestry economy with a knock on benefit for wildlife and the people who love our woods.”
