If you attended the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and saw the Stop the Spread show garden, sponsored by The Food and Environment Research Agency (Fera), cost details have been published.
The total cost of the exhibit was £95,000 with a breakdown of:
Design and materials (including walls & trees: £50,000
Construction and Dismantling: £29,000
Plants: £16,000
TOTAL: £95,000
The garden, which went on to be a silver medal winner at Chelsea, was created to show the impact that pests, diseases and invasive non-native species can have on UK gardens, woodlands and countryside.
In its reply to a Freedom of Information request, the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs which oversees Fera, said that the exhibit was seen by an estimated 150,000 visitors to Chelsea.
And that it was now on display at the Wild Place attraction at Bristol Zoo Gardens.
The garden was a created in partnership with Defra, Forestry Commission, National Trust, Welsh Government, Scottish Government, Woodland Trust, Horticultural Trades Association, and Timber Packaging and Pallet Confederation.
