It's great to finally see that otters have managed to return to every county in the UK. But as many experts still point out they are still relatively , with quite small fragmented populations across a lot of their range especially in the south and east.
Filcris have been working with the Wildlife Trusts for over 5 years developing, introducing and refining an artificial otter holt kit which can help to improve their prospects in fragemented river systems with fewer natural holt sites. These have been used by organisations including the Environment Agency, Surrey Wildllife Trust, Durham Wildlife Trust and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust plus many others, clocking up appearances on Springwatch along the way! We have even supplied them to nature conservation projects in the Ardennes in Belgium and in Luxembourg.
They are now part of a range of wildlife management products including hedgehog boxes, tern nesting rafts, swift nest boxes and mink rafts.
